I do portrait commissions of people and animals, and you can choose whether you want an oil painting or a charcoal drawing. I'm happy to work closely with you so I can really understand your vision and come out with a piece that you will be happy with.
When you're ready for a commission, just contact me.
Every commission starts out with an initial consultation fee. Then, there's a price per square inch depending on the medium chosen.
This price includes up to two revisions during the underdrawing phase, before any paint or charcoal goes down. Once the piece is underway, it's locked in and no further revisions can be made.
| Fee | Oil | Charcoal |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation and initiation fee | $50 | $50 |
| Per square inch | $0.50 | $0.25 |
Here's how that works out for a few common sizes:
| Size | Oil | Charcoal |
|---|---|---|
| 5" x 7" | $67.50 | $58.75 |
| 8" x 10" | $90.00 | $70.00 |
| 12" x 16" | $146.00 | $98.00 |
Every piece is different, but you can generally expect a finished commission within 1–2 months of signing the contract.
For oil paintings, there's some extra time built in after the painting itself is done: the piece needs at least 2 weeks to dry before I can varnish it. 24 hours after varnishing, I can then give you your piece. Please refrain from framing it under glass for at least 6 months after receiving it to give the paint underneath time to fully cure (the paint will be touch-dry by the time you get it, but the underlying layers of oil paint won't be fully cured yet).
